Haskell conference targets research areas

Haskell Indian Nations University on Wednesday will play host to a national conference aimed at exploring ways to increase tribal colleges’ and universities’ involvement in biomedical, environmental and behavioral research.

The three-day conference at Stidham Union will feature several speakers affiliated with Haskell, American Indian Higher Education Consortium, Indian Health Service or the U.S. Office for Human Research Protections.

Francine Romero, an epidemiologist, anthropologist and faculty with the Colorado-based Genetic Education for Native Americans project, will address the conference at 8:30 a.m. Friday on “Family Studies and American Indian/Alaska Native Communities.”
