Ottawans champs
Mike Cevoli and Kevin Evans, both of Ottawa, teamed to catch 10 crappie that weighed 9.52 pounds and win the amateur division at the Crappie USA tournament on April 5 at Pomona Lake. Jack Swafford of El Dorado and Ray Tole of Towanda caught 10 crappie that weighed 9.60 pounds to win the semi-pro division.
Kingsley earns $1,300
Cecil Kingsley of Lawrence caught eight bass that weighed 15.35 pounds and earned an eighth-place check for $1,300 in the pro division at the Central Pro-Am Association tournament last weekend at Beaver Lake in Arkansas. Cameron Roth of Lawrence caught two bass that weighed 3.45 pounds and finished 38th in the amateur division.
Duo takes title
John Laddusaw and Nate Cunningham teamed to win the season-opening Lawrence Fishing and Outdoors Club tournament last Sunday at LaCygne Lake. Bob Saathoff and Dan Lynch were runners-up. Laddusaw caught the biggest fish, a 22-inch largemouth.
Catfish duo sixth
Renee Shumway and Dale Burchfill caught three channel cats that weighed 13.9 pounds to take sixth place at the United States Catfish Anglers Tournament Series on April 6 at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Fishing clinic
Wildlife and Parks fisheries biologist Leonard Jirak will conduct a kids fishing clinic and derby on the opening of Overbrook city lake at 11 a.m. on May 12.
