Irwin, Crowe in top 5 down under

Sydney, Australia Steve Irwin, whose “Crocodile Hunter” television series airs in 130 countries, made his debut at No. 5 on the Business Review Weekly magazine’s Top 50 Australian entertainers chart with estimated earnings last year of 16.3 million Australian dollars, or $8.7 million.

Irwin’s income put the daredevil wildlife adventurer just behind actor Russell Crowe and director Baz Luhrmann on the earnings list, published Thursday.

Australia’s top show business moneymakers were theater impresarios James Erskine, David Coe, Tony Cochrane and Basil Scaffidi, who between them took home some 37 million Australian dollars ($19.7 million) last year, the finance magazine said.

At No. 2 were veteran rockers AC/DC, who earned 30 million Australian dollars, or $16 million.

Damon makes English debut

London Matt Damon will make his London stage debut in Kenneth Lonergan’s “This Is Our Youth.”

Damon will take over the lead role from Hayden Christensen on April 25, the Garrick Theater said Wednesday.

Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming “Star Wars” film, stars with Anna Paquin and Jake Gyllenhaal in Lonergan’s barbed comedy about a trio of rich and wayward youths in 1980s New York.

Damon will appear alongside his “Ocean’s 11” co-star Casey Affleck brother of Damon’s longtime collaborator, Ben Affleck and Summer Phoenix.

“This Is Our Youth” is scheduled to run at the Garrick Theater until mid-June.

Davis gives birth to daughter

Los Angeles It’s a girl for Oscar-winning actress Geena Davis.

The 45-year-old gave birth Wednesday at a Los Angeles-area hospital, publicist Paul Bloch said Thursday. The baby’s name and weight weren’t disclosed.

“Everybody is very healthy and I hear the little girl is as beautiful looking as her mom,” Bloch said.

Davis married Reza Jarrahy, a 30-year-old doctor, in September 2001. Jarrahy is her fourth husband. This is the couple’s first child.

Davis won a supporting actress Academy Award for playing the kooky dog trainer in 1988’s “The Accidental Tourist” and received an Oscar nomination for best actress for 1991’s “Thelma & Louise.”
