Comedy troupe spoofs U.S. politics, TV anchors

Right Between the Ears, an award-winning comedy show produced by KANU-FM 91.5, will perform at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday in Liberty Hall, 644 Mass.

The 8 p.m. show will be broadcast live on KANU and its Web site, kanu.ku.edu.

The April show is expected to include spoofs on the recent flap over ABC’s move to dump longtime anchorman Ted Koppel in favor of David Letterman; Vice President Dick Cheney’s tour of the Middle East; and the shadow government of the United States.

The program also will feature Tony Redundo’s advice on how to make the best of an IRS audit and actor Russell Crowe reading some dirty poetry.

Admission is $12 for cabaret seats and $8 for balcony seats. Tickets are available at Liberty Hall, 749-1972, or TicketMaster, (816) 931-3330.

Filmmakers seeking actors for short film

If you have dreams of appearing in a film, then the makers of the short film “RestArea” may be your ticket.

Open auditions will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 11 and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 12 at the Westport Coffeehouse, 4010 Pa., Kansas City, Mo.

From May 30 to June 4, a crew of Boston filmmakers will be shooting a film near Kansas City about the highway, chance interactions in public places, coffee and America.

Guest conductor to lead

orchestra concert The Lawrence Chamber Orchestra will present its spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in Liberty Hall and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 704 Eighth St., Baldwin.

Guest conductor is Florin Totan, principal conductor of the Valcea Philharmonic Orchestra and music director of the Sinfonia Bucharest.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and $7 for students. Tickets for the Lawrence concert are available at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H., and after 1 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Hall.
