If there’s an odder union, we don’t know what it would be, but … Fox News on Tuesday confirmed that prime-time host Greta Van Susteren will take heavy metal star Ozzy Osbourne as a date to the May 4 White House Correspondents Assn. dinner. Ozzy’s wife, Sharon, co-star of the MTV hit “The Osbournes,” also is going.

Why Ozzy and Greta? A Fox spokeswoman would only confirm the date; Van Susteren couldn’t be reached. However, the Osbournes did appear on Monday night’s “On the Record.”

It is believed this will be the first time that President Bush will meet the Black Sabbath singer.

Osbourne said he was stunned to be going to the White House to meet Bush, according to London’s Express newspaper. He said: “I thought I’d be on a wanted poster on the wall, not invited to his place to tea.”

The White House invitation isn’t the only honor Osbourne has received this week he’s due on Friday to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
