Ex-Jayhawk Thomas propels Greenville

? Former Kansas University guard Billy Thomas scored 20 points to lead Greenville to an 81-63 victory over North Charleston in the opener of the NBDL Finals on Monday night at the Bi-Lo Center.

Kimani Ffriend, a former Nebraska player, had 15 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots for Greenville.

Game Two of the first NBDL Championship will be played tonight in Charleston, S.C. Game Three, if necessary, would be Saturday in Charleston.

Thomas, a 6-foot-4 guard who last played for the Jayhawks in 1997-98, made seven of 16 shots, including 3-of-8 shooting from three-point range.

A standout in the opening round against Columbus, Thomas missed his first three shots.

His first basket came on a dunk with less than three minutes to go in the first half, then he closed the half with a three-pointer that gave his team a seven-point lead at the break.
