4-H & FCE news

The Kanwaka FCE will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Ann Haley. Lyn Walther will present the program on floral arrangements. Walther asks members who attended the December lesson on floral arrangements to bring ideas or items from that lesson. Members are asked to bring any unusual container they might have.

India FCE will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Wilma Stone. Emma Garrett will present the lesson “Omega-3s Are Fats You Should Eat.”

The Lone Star 4-H Club met March 11 at Wakarusa Valley School. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite college basketball team. AJ Postum and James Postum were guests.

The community leaders announced that registration forms are available for Discover Days, which will be June 5-7 in Manhattan. The deadline to register is Wednesday. The Dairy Expo is today, and the Spring Beef Show will be April 27. Members who volunteered to attend the exchange meeting with Vinland Valley are Michael Krumm, John Berg, Annie Flory and Kaitlan Brenn.

Members enrolled in the foods and nutrition project presented a program using Kansas products.

The next meeting’s hosts will be the Krumm, Metsker and Brenn families.

The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met March 11. Members enrolled in Level 3 and 4 Foods presented a project talk called “Surviving Consumer Judging.” The Level 1 and 2 Foods groups gave a project talk on “Cooking Help With Recipes.”

The next meeting will be Monday.

The Jayhawk 4-H Club met March 11 at Grant School. As part of Parents’ Night, parents took on the responsibilities of the club officers. Gary Davis, Patsy Williams, Moody Williams, Richard Williams and Jane Bireta presented a program on parliamentary procedure. Hosts were the Parent Advisory Committee.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Grant School.

The Stull Busy Beavers 4-H Club meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Stull United Methodist Church.
