Conroy Wins Opener: Randy Conroy fired a 76 to win the Jayhawk Golf Club’s season opener last Saturday at Alvamar. Ron Huckfeldt was runner-up with a 78 and Roger Gemeinhardt third with an 80. In net scoring, Bob Clark and Mike DuPree each shot a 70 and Steve Crawford carded a 72.

Baldwin Mat Camp: Registrations are being accepted for the Shawn Charles Wrestling camp on June 18-22 at Baker University in Baldwin. Charles, a former NCAA runner-up, is an assistant coach at Nebraska.

LHS Volleyball Camp: Lawrence High summer volleyball camps are scheduled June 10-14 with the junior high session in the morning, the grade school session in the afternoon and the high school session at night. For information, call Jo Huntsinger at 749-3135 or e-mail to jahuntsin@usd497.org.

Heitzman Wichita Winner: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the age-graded Masters Division of the Easter Sun Run 10K Saturday in Wichita. Heitzman’s actual time of 42:55 produced an age-graded time of 31:22.

KU Ruggers Romp: Kansas University women’s rugby boosted its record to 3-0 by pounding Kansas State, 44-0, in Kansas City, Mo. Melissa McKibben had four tries while Allison Arvey, Laura Wolfe, Jenny Peck and Jen Nelson had one apiece. Rachel Seidle kicked two conversions.

City Youth Sign-Ups: Registration deadline is April 18 for city-sponsored youth baseball and softball leagues. The programs are open to kindergarten through sixth graders. Also, the city has a few more openings for its junior high-age girls volleyball camp that will run for four consecutive Saturdays starting this weekend. For information, call 832-7940.

Holcom-Ice Registration: Late walk-in registration for Holcom-Ice summer baseball for 13- and 14-year-olds will be today and Friday at the Holcom Rec Center. Registration is necessary to attend Saturday’s tryouts. For information, call Brett Urban at 830-0626.
