KU netters dump Iowa

Kansas can thump a nonleague foe as well.

Still undefeated in the Big 12, the Jayhawk netters won two singles matches and four doubles matches to upend Big Ten’s Iowa, 5-2, on Sunday at Robinson Courts.

Cheryl Mallaiah, Courtney Steinbock, Aurelie Bejar and Kim Lorenz won singles matches for the Jayhawks. Courtney Steinbock and twin sister Kristen Steinbock won No. 1 doubles. Bejar and Mallaiah teamed for a win at No. 3 doubles to help the Jayhawks win their eighth consecutive dual.

“I am happy to come away from this match with a victory because it is tough to play a nonconference match in the middle of conference play,” said KU head coach Kilmeny Waterman, whose squad is 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the Big 12.

KU will play at Kansas State on Wednesday.
