Extra hands needed at library sale

Agency: Friends of the Library

Contact: Mary Lynn Stuart, 843-3833.

The Friends of the Library is looking for volunteers to help at its Spring Book Sale at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. The sale is Friday through April 8 and April 11 and 13.

Mary Lynn Stuart, a library employee who is helping to coordinate the event, said volunteers of any age are needed to open boxes, re-shelve books and straighten the book stacks. Friends of the Library members serve as cashiers.

“They can work whatever hours work for them,” she said.

Volunteers are needed to help set up from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday morning. On the sale days, volunteers are needed for each hour it’s open.

“The spring sale is smaller than the tent sale,” Spann said, referring to a multi-day book sale in the fall.

For more information and to sign up to be a volunteer, call Stuart at 843-3833.

Last week’s results

Joan Spann, an organizer of the Resurrection 5K Run/Walk, said she received two calls from people wanting to volunteer at the annual event.

One caller was new to Lawrence, while the other has lived in Lawrence for a while, she said.

The Resurrection Run/Walk, sponsored by the Museum of Christian History, was last Saturday as way to exercise and celebrate the Easter holiday. Volunteers assist with registration, run water stations along the route; serve as crossing guards at intersections; greet participants; and work the finish line.
