Services for William D. "Bill" Martin Sr., 49, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
Mr. Martin died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 28, 1952, in Goodland, the son of Don Martin and Norma (Schwerdt) Martin. He graduated from Pomona High School in Pomona in 1970. He lived in Lawrence for the last eight years, moving from the Pomona/Ottawa area, where he had lived since the early 1970s.
Mr. Martin had worked as a machinist for Ottawa Truck in Ottawa since 1993. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he worked as a forklift operator at Our Own Hardware in Ottawa.
He served in the U.S. Army in Kansas during the late 1970s. He was a member of Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa; and Aerie Lodge 309, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lawrence.
He married Margaret Foster in Ottawa, and later they were divorced. He married Carol A. Barnes on July 1, 1994, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Survivors include parents; two sons, William D. Martin Jr., Ottawa, Robert Lee Martin, Pomona; two stepdaughters, Ricci Wolken, and Tracy Pobjoy, both Lawrence; two sisters, Diane Spurling, Lawrence, and Cathy Monahan, Mesa, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.
