It only took about 30 minutes for the group to get rid of 600 ribbons with small cards attached to them that said, "We hope this small gift brings some light into your day. It's a simple way of saying that God loves you -- no strings attached."
Kitsy Gray, wife of the church's pastor, Paul, said the church often likes to do small things for the community such as give away popsicles and coffee. She said she hoped people would wear the ribbons in response to the Sept. 11 tragedies in New York and Washington, D.C.
"We just wanted to show our patriotism and to show God loves people in lots of different ways," she said.
