Wellsville rolls to 42-14 victory

Graham rushes for 131 yards; Perry-Lecompton thumps Iola, 41-13

— Wellsville High's football team ran over Anderson County in a 42-14 decision on Friday night.

Fullback Dustin Graham gained 131 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns, while tailback Justin Hoehn contributed 129 yards on 19 carries and scored on a two-point conversion run.

Graham scored on runs of 12, one, one and three yards.

Hoehn had eight tackles, while Derek Wright and Todd Roberts had seven apiece. Dustin Gardner had six tackles.

"The offensive line did some good blocking up front," Wellsville coach Bill Oshel said. "We did a nice job finding holes, but it all starts up front."

Perry-Lecompton 41, Iola 13

Perry Perry-Lecompton pounded Iola at the Kaws' field.

The Kaws' Jason Holladay answered Iola's opening touchdown pass by returning a kickoff 80 yards for a score.

Clifton Henderson scored on runs of 13 and one yards for the Kaws. Also, Zack Engel scored on a two-yard run and threw a 25-yard pass to Jared Swafford. Noah Rees contributed a 40-yard TD run and had a two-point run.

Henderson finished with 93 yards on 19 carries for the 3-1 Kaws.

Basehor Basehor-Linwood scored on a 15-yard fade pass with 50 seconds to play as B-L clipped Santa Fe Trail High.

Santa Fe Trail scored on a one-yard run by Justin Ramsdell and 19-yard pass from Shane Miles to Cameron Babb.

Of B-L's final play, Santa Fe coach Bob Von Stein noted: "It was a tremendous catch. The officials had to rule whether it was in bounds. We had somebody there. He made a strong catch."

The Chargers fell to 2-2.

Kansas City Brandon Simpson kicked 20 and 27 yard field goals while three different players scored touchdowns as Mill Valley blanked KC Piper, 26-0, on Friday night.

Max Woods scored on a four-yard run, Tony Alvarez a 38-yard run and Eric Pingleton a 75-yard interception return for Mill Valley.

Wathena 7

Wathena Oskaloosa busted open a one-point game at halftime in the second half of a 30-7 victory over Wathena on Friday night.

The Bears scored 22 unanswered points in the final half.

Oskie unning back Larry Subelka rushed for 240 yards on 25 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns and a conversion run.

Matt Marietta had 12 tackles on defense, including three sacks.

He helped make up for the loss of linebacker Nate Perry, who suffered a broken collarbone.

"We had 58 yards offense the first half and finished with 340," Oskie coach Kyle Ross said. "It was a matter of trying to wake us up (at halftime) I guess. That's two weeks in a row now we played better the second half."

The Bears, 4-0, will play host to Valley Falls Friday. Wathena fell to 1-3.
