Services for Stephen F. Vormehr, 53, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Private burial will follow in Lawrence.
Mr. Vormehr died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1947, in Junction City, the son of Fred and Mary E. McKellar Vormehr. He had lived in Lawrence since he attended Kansas University in 1965. He was a 1969 graduate of KU with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Mr. Vormehr owned Mid America Concessions, which handles the concessions for athletic and civic events at KU and in Lawrence. He had formerly owned Becerros Mexican Restaurant, Lawrence, from 1980 to 1990. He had also owned General Jeans clothing store, Lawrence, during the 1970s.
He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and was a former president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lawrence. He had also coached teeball and softball for many years in the Biddy Basketball Program. He was also active in KU Quarterback Club and KU Roundball Club.
He married Vicki Gans on Dec. 29, 1978, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Nathan, Lawrence; twin daughters, Amy Vormehr and Katy Vormehr, of the home; and three sisters, Vicki Murrison, Lawrence, Jane Tavasci, Clarkdale, Ariz., and Leslie Cady, Denver.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lawrence or to his children's education fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
