The Liberty Memorial High School class of 1951 will hold its 50-year class reunion Oct. 12-13.

Events will begin with a casual get-together from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Union Pacific Depot.

Oct. 13 activities include a nine-hole mixed golf scramble at 8 a.m. at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Coffee will be served at 10 a.m. at Jim and Carolyn Hemphills' home, 3502 Tam O'Shanter. Mixed tennis will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Lawrence High School courts.

The Oct. 13 evening events will be at Alvamar Country Club. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 7:30 p.m. A short program and class pictures with visiting and music will conclude the weekend.

Leslie Miller, a 1996 Lawrence High School graduate, received a bachelor's degree in graphic art design in May from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. She is the daughter of James Miller and Pamela Hardie, both Lawrence.


Sadie Caplan and Elise Schnose, both of Lawrence, pledged sororities at the University of Texas at Austin during fall rush.

Caplan, a 2001 Free State High School graduate, pledged Delta Gamma. She is the daughter of Rich and Nancy Caplan.

Schnose, a 2001 Lawrence High School graduate, pledged Alpha Delta Pi. She is the daughter of Greg and Linda Schnose.


The 47th annual reunion of the descendants of Louis and Elisabeth Haas was Sept. 2 at Marion Springs School in Worden. Barbara Johnson and Paula Bowlin were hostesses.

Lucile Shoemaker, president, and Ruth Stoebener, secretary, called a short business meeting to order after a basket dinner at 1 p.m. Officers elected for the 2002 reunion were Alan Niebrugge, president, and Rosie Robertson, secretary.

Area residents in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Robertson, Katie and Jack, Lawrence; Antonette Brecheisen, Eudora; Norma Schwarz, Richard Johanning, both of Baldwin; Oscar Stoebener, Allan Schwarz, Ruth Stoebener, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson and Tammy, Dora Stoebener, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Bowlin, Sara and Matthew, all of the Worden area.

The 2002 reunion will be the Sunday before Labor Day in Eudora. The Chris Niebrugge family will be the hosts.


Janet Cinelli, Lawrence, received a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Keller Graduate School of Management, Kansas City, Mo. She graduated with distinction. She received a B.S. in journalism from Kansas University.

Cinelli is senior manager of marketing at Cinergy Communications. She is involved with the Lawrence Art Guild and Harvest of Arts.


Clarissa Wagner, Lawrence, recently attended space camp at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, Hutchinson.

She participated in conditioning, conducting experiments and learning about space travel.

She is the daughter of Bruce and Rose Wagner, Lawrence.


The Baldwin High School class of 1982 is preparing for its 20-year class reunion. Reunion coordinators need help locating class members.
