Numerous speakers and events will make up Native American Day at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vt.
The event is sponsored by Douglas County Senior Services.
Dan Wildcat, history and social science instructor at Haskell Indian Nations University, will speak and participate in a question-and-answer session.
After the discussion, Kim Taylor from the Kansas University Museum of Anthropology will show Indian artifacts. Steve Jansen, curator at Watkins Community Museum of History, will tell the history of Haskell and its connection to Lawrence.
Manny King, registrar at Haskell, will present a program of music and dance. Brenda Eubanks will demonstrate beadwork.
Lunch will be served at noon and will feature American Indian foods catered by Haskell. The price for lunch is $4.50 per person.
Reservations must be made by noon Monday. Smokey McKinney, of the natural and social sciences department at Haskell, will be the luncheon speaker.
