More patriotic-themed stamps may grace people's mail in the coming weeks.

Since the disasters happened in New York and Washington, D.C., people have doubled their purchases of Statue of Liberty stamps.

Last week, Tim Wales, an employee at the Lawrence Post Office, 645 Vt., said people bought 410 of the blue stamps compared to 812 stamps Tuesday to Saturday this week.

In addition, he said the post office sold 520 of the "Honoring Veterans" stamps compared to 120 the week before.

He said the post office also has sold out of the "Flag over the Farm" commemorative series.

"It's just like Desert Storm," Wales said. "People come in and want to buy these kinds of stamps."
