Services for Robert W. Riner, 76, Holiday Island, Ark., will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Lawrence. Military graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Riner died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
He was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Mound City, Mo., the son of Robert H. and Marjorie Wilson Riner. He had moved to Holiday Island from Lawrence in 1999.
Mr. Riner was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a self-employed floor installer in Lawrence for many years.
He was a member of First Christian Church and the church choir for 50 years. He was also a member of the Decorators and Painters Union and the Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 American Legion.
He married Patsy Ann Gay on Feb. 17, 1952. She died April 21, 1981. He married Janet Oliver Carter on May 18, 1985, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Melanie Coppoc, Overbrook, and Leigh Anne Skowronski, Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sons, Mike, Lawrence, and Jeff, Lecompton; two stepsons, Aaron Carter, Edson, and Kyle Carter, Fort Collins, Colo.; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to First Christian Church Music Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
