Graveside services for Medary L. Christie, 76, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Clinton Cemetery.

Mr. Christie died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Vermillion, the son of Ray Emmett and Maude Frances (Burton) Christie. He attended schools in Bigelow, La Grange, Vermillion and Frankfort.

Mr. Christie worked for Constant, Kansas and Lawrence construction companies, all in Lawrence. He also worked for the Lawrence Water Department and Quaker Oats Co. He went on disability in 1983 with rheumatoid arthritis and retired in 1990.

He was a member of Clinton Presbyterian Church.

He married Julia Nadine Hout on Oct. 17, 1946. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Larry, Humansville, Mo., and Tom, Lawrence; four sisters, Lois Stowell, Hutchinson, and Nina Bair, Wilma Richardson and Loma Gregg, all of Lawrence; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County, Arthritis Foundation, American Cancer Society or Clinton Presbyterian Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
