September 11, 2001

Kansas will have a high school basketball prospect in town for for the KU-Missouri Border War football game on Oct. 20.

Andre Igoudala, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard/forward from Springfield, Ill., told analyst Greg Swaim on Monday night he had finalized dates for his five visits.

He's headed to Boston College on Sept. 28-29, Arizona for Midnight Madness on Oct. 11, Kansas the following weekend, Arkansas Oct. 26-27 with a trip to Maryland the following week.

Igoudala actually interrupted a Monday night in-home visit with Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson to make a brief appearance on Swaim's show (

Jeff Graves, 6-8 from Iowa Western Community College, also will visit KU for the Missouri football game. He's considering KU, MU, Long Beach State and others.

Hassan Adams, a 6-4 guard from Los Angeles Westchester High, had a great in-home visit with KU coach Roy Williams Monday night, Westchester assistant coach Marlin Morton said.

"It was a great presentation, the most impressive one I've been to," Morton said. "Roy Williams went up a whole lot tonight. I know Hassan likes him a lot and he went up a whole lot with me. Professional, knowledgable, comfortable. It was great."

Adams he visited KU last weekend had in-home visits with Cal and UCLA on Sunday night upon returning from Lawrence. He did not commit to KU on Monday night and still will likely make visits to Oregon, Boston College, Arizona and Tennessee, Morton indicated.

"He'll make trips because as great as Roy was today, Roy is a coach. He is not the players," Morton said. "Hassan said he loved the players he met at Kansas, but he needs to meet some other players, too from the other teams. Once he's comfortable with players, that's the decisive choice.

The top high school basketball player in Oklahoma has given a verbal commitment to Duke.

Shelden Williams, a 6-9 power forward from Midwest City, said Monday he will play college ball in Durham, N.C.

Williams chose the Blue Devils over Illinois, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

Another top Oklahoman, 6-5 Kelenna Azubuike of Tulsa Victory Christian, on Thursday is expected to tab Oklahoma as his college choice.
