September 11, 2001

The NCAA reported Monday that the graduation rate for student-athletes who were freshmen in the 1994-95 school year -- the most recent class to complete the NCAA's six-year graduation window -- was 58 percent.

The same class at Kansas saw 62 percent of its student-athletes graduate.

The NCAA reported that the graduation rate among men's basketball players fell to 40 percent, the lowest level since 1984.

KU's rate for men's basketball player graduation was 67 percent for the most recent class.

Graduation rates for Division I football players improved from last year, from 48 percent to 51 percent nationally. KU graduated 56 percent for the same class.

Kansas submitted its graduation numbers months ago, but the NCAA didn't publish the national findings until Monday.
