9-12 Ross services

Mrs. Ross died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at her home.

She was born Dec. 28, 1916, in Mayetta, the daughter of Dr. Charles J. "C.J." and Zellah Swope Bliss. She graduated in 1935 from Perry Rural High School and received her nursing degree from Christ Hospital/Vail School of Nursing, Topeka. She lived in Perry most of her life.

Mrs. Ross was a Registered Nurse. She retired in 1976 after 26 years of service at the former Winter-General and Colmery-O'Neil Veteran's Administration Hospital, Topeka. She also worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital from 1938 to 1941, and had worked for Dr. Isaacs and Dr. Penny Jones, both in Lawrence.

She was a member of Perry United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Unite No. 142, Perry, and Perry Civic Study Club. She was also a member of Topeka Needle Work Guild.

She married Glenn Roland July 30, 1938, in Olathe. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, James M. Ross, Osage Beach, Mo.; a daughter, Marilyn Rees, Grantville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the church, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to Kansas Arthritis Foundation or to Perry United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
