Scouts and scouters of the Pelathe District were staff members at various camps and reservations recently.

Scouts at the Theodore Naish Scout Reservation were Vic Tuttle, Peter Tuttle, Josh Cosgrove and Tristan Wagner. Scouters there included John Scott, Stan Roth, Herb Tuttle, Sue Reiske, Tammy Barta and Bruce Wagner.

Scouts at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation were Dan Sheely, Josh Bailey and Chris Volek. Scouters there were Jim Peterson, Casey Jones, Dan Keller, Pat Donahue and Tom Sheely.

Abby Graham and Patrick McCoy were on the staff at Philmont Scout Ranch. David Bennett, Tom Bondurant, Evan Grosshans, Tyler Paden, Daniel Rieder and Kevin Williams were on the staff at Camp Alexander in Lake George, Colo.


Cub Scout Pack 3059, chartered to First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, will have its first meeting for the school year from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 17 in the fellowship hall at the church, 2415 Clinton Parkway.

Pack membership primarily includes scouts from Schwegler and Wakarusa schools, but anyone interested may join. For more information, call Clay Kappelman, Cubmaster, at 841-3603.


Cub Scout Pack 3051, chartered to Pinckney School, held its annual swimming party Aug. 31 at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center.

Cubs present were Thomas Thompson, William Thompson, Ian Heinerikson, Jacob Burchett, Joseph Vannicola, Mason Robinson, Mikey Robinson, William Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Jamie Braden, Rich DiBenedetto, Aurelius Armstrong, Christopher Sloan, Brian Loux, Jake Brown and Keagan Taylor. Adults present were Cammie Braden, Scott Braden, Lisa DiBenedetto, Joe Hickock, Ella Bartz, Audrey Taylor, Mike Taylor, Harold Aiken, Gerie Aiken, Don Loux, Ron Armstrong, Ralena McCurdy, Tom Heinerikson, Tina Todd and Deb Vannicola. Boy Scouts Mason McCurdy and Josh Cosgrove from Troop 52 were also present.

Tina Todd is the new committee secretary.


Cub Scout Pack 3363, newly chartered to the Lawrence Housing Authority, held its first meeting Aug. 25.

The scouts watched a movie, had snacks and planned upcoming meetings. The pack will meet from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays at 1600 Haskell Ave., apartment No. 188. For more information, call Cubmaster Schuyler Bailey at 841-2328.


Twenty-four Boy Scouts and adults leaders from Troop 62, chartered to the Linwood Lions Club, took a high adventure trip Aug. 4-12 to Quetico Provicial Park in Ontario, Canada.

The scouts spent five days on the boundary water lakes canoeing, swimming and fishing. Among the animals they saw were a bald eagle, geese, ducks, loons, moose, a black bear and several deer.

Scouts attending were Jacob Bateson, Matthew Beeves, James Bishop, Cary Britt, Billy Crum, John Eisman, Joel Holland, Aaron Holland, Joe Marshall, Ben Thomas, Joel VanderVelde, Paul Schlagel, Sam Neil, Derek Mueller, Dennis Kelly, Joe Kelly, Chris Perry, Scott Perry, Jon Raw and Joe Yslas. Adult leaders were Randy Beeves, Dave Britt, Larry Neil and Joe Perry.


Cub Scout Pack 3370, chartered to Deerfield School, will have its scout recruitment night at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in the school cafeteria, 101 Lawrence Ave.
