This is the situation facing the Haskell Indian Nations University football team, which will face McPherson College at 7 tonight at Haskell Stadium.

McPherson opens it season tonight, after winning just a 38-14 decision against St. Mary's last year, while the Fightin' Indians are looking to improve offensively after dropping a 48-20 loss to Bacone College and a 26-17 loss to Trinity Bible College.

"Everytime you're not winning you look to see if you can get something working a little bit," HINU coach Graham Snelding said. "I think we're going to look at a couple of other players to help on the offense a little bit and get some of our running backs the ball a little bit more. We need to protect our quarterback and maybe we can get a little bit more of a running game going to help out."

Snelding said he was concerned about the Bulldogs' offense as well.

"They're a spread-option team and they've got a quarterback and some running backs with some speed," he said. "Every year they run it they're going to get better at it."

McPherson's defense also stood out to the Fightin' Indians coach.

"Their defense was pretty impressive," Snelding said. "It looks like they have some really good linebackers and defensive linemen."

Fortunately for HINU, Snelding feels his defensive unit is also impressive.

"I think our defensive is playing pretty impressive too and as long as we contain their running backs we should do well on the defensive side on the ball."
