Each family is asked to bring a covered dish, table service and memorabilia. Drinks will be provided. Hosts will be the families of Bob and Janet VanCleave, Bill and Sharon Garner and John and Fran Wulfkuhle.


The Farmer-Hulce Family Reunion will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at Washington Creek Church, 609 E. 550 Road.

Please bring a basket dinner, family and friends.


Neil Dryden, Lawrence, graduated in August from Iowa State University. He received a master's degree in sociology.


Robert and Kris Overcash, Belton, Mo., announce the birth of their daughter, Reagan Nadine, on July 13, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Reagan has one brother, Kody, 20 months.

Grandparents are Jerry and Kim Neis, Eudora, and Billy and Sandy Overcash, Pecos, Tex.

Great-grandparents are Doris Schehrer and Katherine Neis, both of Eudora; and Joe and Mary Lou Corson, El Paso, Tex.

Great-great-grandmother is Margarita "Mage" Hernandez, El Paso, Tex.


The Applause Committee of the Old West Neighborhood Assn. has recognized the following homeowner projects for their "aesthetic contributions" to the neighborhood: a new rock wall at 620 Ind., a rebuilt front porch and exterior paint at 627 Ohio, a rebuilt brick fence and sidewalk at 701 La., new shingles and trim paint at 824 Ark. and an addition to 721 Maine.


The Liberty Memorial High School class of 1951 will hold its 50-year class reunion Oct. 12-13.

Events will begin with a casual get-together from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Union Pacific Depot.

Oct. 13 activities include a nine-hole mixed golf scramble at 8 a.m. at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Coffee will be served at 10 a.m. at Jim and Carolyn Hemphills' home, 3502 Tam O'Shanter. Mixed tennis will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Lawrence High School courts.

The Oct. 13 evening events will be at Alvamar Country Club. Social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 7:30 p.m. A short program and class pictures with visiting and music will conclude the weekend.
