Burglaries and thefts reported

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary at a residence in the unit section of East 1900 Road. The burglary was discovered Aug. 31 by a 49-year-old man who lived there. Taken were $2,000 in cash and a $600 pressure washer. There were no signs of forced entry, sheriff's officers said. The incident wasn't reported until Tuesday.

A 20-year-old Lawrence man told Lawrence Police someone took $2,000 worth of compact discs in a break-in at his apartment in the 1300 block of West 24th Street. Also taken were two speakers valued at $480 and a speaker box valued at $150. The burglary occurred sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

A 53-year-old Lawrence man reported Tuesday that his 1998 FSR Stunt Jumper was taken sometime between Aug. 15 and Thursday. A Lawrence Police report listed the value of the vehicle at $985. It was taken from the 500 block of Durham Court.

Two Eclipse sub woofers valued at $750 and a Kickers ZR 240 amplifier valued at $400 were reported taken from a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of West 24th Street, a Lawrence Police report said. The audio equipment belonged to a 21-year-old Kansas University student, who told police the items were taken between 11 p.m. Monday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. He also reported $100 damage to his driver's side window, which was pried open.

A 63-year-old Lawrence woman reported $1,000 damage to her blue 1991 Toyota Cressida. The damage occurred between 12:01 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of New York Street, a Lawrence Police report said.
