Graveside services for Fredrick E. Johnson, 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Lawrence, the son of Frederick Kline and Anna Eliza (Nichols) Johnson. He attended Lawrence public schools and lived most of his life in Lawrence.
Mr. Johnson worked for Hercules Ammunition Plant in Hanford, Wash., during World War II. He worked for Constant and Kansas construction companies as a heavy-equipment operator. He then worked for Dunbar Construction Co. until he retired in 1982.
He was a member of Hoisting and Portable Engineers Local No. 101, Kansas City; Lodge No. 595, Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lawrence; and Mt. Oread Aerie No. 309, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lawrence.
He married Marguerite Elston on March 27, 1937, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Frederick, Lawrence; three daughters, Marie Harding, Emporia, Sally Barnett, Ozawkie, and Denise Hahnstadt, Missoula, Mont.; two sisters, Minnie Frazier, South Bend, Wash., and Elizabeth House, Lawrence; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to North Lawrence Christian Church, and they may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
