Former Indy Racing League champion Greg Ray, fired from his ride last month, will race for A.J. Foyt, and former Formula One driver Johnny Herbert will make his series debut in the season-finale on Sept. 16 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Ray, who won the IRL title in 1999 with Team Menard, will replace Donnie Beechler in the finale and drive a car powered by a Nissan engine, while Foyt's other driver, Eliseo Salazar, will continue to use an Oldsmobile engine.
"I wanted to explore some options for next year," Foyt said. "Greg Ray is a strong competitor, especially at Texas, and with it being our home track, it's a good opportunity to work together again."
Ray drove briefly for Foyt in 1998.
