Kansas Wildscape Foundation plans to have more than 10,000 Kansas youths hiking, canoeing, fishing, biking, hunting and birdwatching all over the state next Saturday.
It's the first annual Outdoors Kansas for Kids Day.
All equipment will be supplied. Expenses are covered with financial and in-kind assistance from Bass Pro Shops, Capitol Federal Savings and Dillons.
In Lawrence, OK Kids Day will be conducted at Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper.
The Center will offer two outdoor programs for youths ages 9 to 15. The morning program is a "Canoeing and Kayaking Workshop". The afternoon program is entitled "Becoming an Ethical Outdoorsman."
Participants will receive a t-shirt and be eligible for door prizes.
Phone registrations are being accepted by Prairie Park Nature Center at 832-7980. Participants must pre-register either by phone or by visiting the center.
