Services for Maureen A. Mills, 45, Tonganoxie, will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence. A celebration of life service will follow.
Mrs. Mills died Aug. 31, 2001, at her home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1956, in Dallas, the daughter of Susan Gray Ward and adoptive father Gene Cuvelot. She graduated from Highland Park Senior High School in St. Paul, Minn., and earned a degree from St. Mary College in Leavenworth.
Mrs. Mills was a teacher at Tonganoxie Elementary School and also taught Sunday School at Tonganoxie United Methodist Church and Trinity Episcopal. She was a co-founder of Sort, Organize & Recycle Trash (S.O.R.T.) in Tonganoxie and was a member of the Vestry and Finance committee at Trinity Episcopal, the Lawrence Area Reading Council and the Betty Washington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Lawrence.
She married Edward Mills Sept. 29, 1979, in White Bear, Minn. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her mother, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; three daughters, Rebecca Mills, Tonganoxie, Melanie Copeland, Deltona, Fla., and Angela Jamison, Overland Park; one son, Scott, Dresser, Wis.; a sister, Louise Sorensen of Stillwater, Minn.; and six grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
The family suggests memorials to the Tonganoxie Grade School Library and the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (Paul Newman Children's Cancer Camp), sent care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
