Burglaries and thefts reported

A "Kiddie Rides" Batmobile valued at $4,000 was taken between Sept. 27 and Oct. 27 from the 1000 block of North Third Street. The ride was owned by Quality Vending, 1601 Burning Tree Drive.

A 46-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft of a Tag-Heur diving watch valued at $3,500. The watch was taken between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of Mesa Way.

A 19-inch television valued at $180, a Sony Playstation valued at $200 and other items worth $900 were taken between 11 p.m. Saturday and 12:45 a.m. Sunday from the 600 block of Gateway Court. The victim is a 19-year-old Lawrence man.

A 61-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft of three guns from his home in the 700 block of West 25th Street. Stolen were a Remington 270 rifle and Remington 222 rifle, both valued at $250, and a Browning AR590 shotgun valued at $580.

Eight items were taken between 7 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. Thursday from a motor vehicle on the 1300 block of Naismith Drive. The victim, a 48-year-old Lawrence woman, reported the theft of an American-Indian ebony wooden flute valued at $700, a one-person tent valued at $350, hiking boots, $190, a sleeping bag, $54, a set of wrenches for a BMW motorcycle, $36, a flashlight, $20, plastic coated steel cable, $15, and a green duffle bag, $5.

El Mezcal restaurant, 1819 W. 23rd St., was burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 9:20 a.m. Friday. $7,450 in U.S. currency and a Sentry safe valued at $150 was taken, and a glass door, valued at $200, was damaged.

Injury accidents

A 6-year-old boy was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., after a two-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike at 7:50 a.m. Sunday. The accident occurred about 6 miles east of Lawrence when a 1997 Nissan car rear-ended a 2001 Dodge car, causing the Nissan to lose control and strike the middle barrier wall. Both cars were east bound. The boy, complaining of back pain, was treated and released at the hospital.
