IN 1976

A group of East Lawrence residents issued a report condemning the proposed Haskell Loop roadway and the recent environmental impact statement urging immediate construction.

A local architect was to study the possible conversion of Lawrence Memorial Hospital's 1956 west wing into offices for two county health agencies, city and county commissioners decided at a joint meeting.

IN 1901

On Oct. 27, 1901, the Lawrence Journal observed, "The first fool who shot the falls of Niagara came through alive. But we should not be discouraged. Perhaps her imitators will not be as fortunate."
