Graveside services for Lawrence A. Stowe, 89, Lawrence, will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors by Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion.
Mr. Stowe died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 19, 1912, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Earl J. and Mabel Edith (Smith) Stowe.
Mr. Stowe was a Army veteran of World War II, serving from May 14, 1942, to Jan. 6, 1946, in the 9,327th Training Service Unit Station Complement as an artillery mechanic and a truck driver. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. After the war, he worked as a truck driver. In later years, he drove a taxicab.
Survivors include several Lawrence nephews and nieces, including Mike and Carl Garrett; Orville, Donald and Earl Church; Gary, Ronald, Earl, Alvin, Bob and Glenn Stowe; Neva Stowe; Charlotte Lewis and Sue Church.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
