Garrett services

Services for William C. Garrett, 90, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Garrett died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Ottawa Retirement Village.

He was born Oct. 28, 1910, in Harrisonville, Mo., the son of Harry and Edna O. (Morrison) Garrett. He was raised in Harrisonville, Mo., and Lawrence.

Mr. Garrett worked as a butcher and on a dairy farm. He also worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and Reuter Organ Factory. He carried mail for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years until his retirement in 1976.

He was a member of Oddfellow Lodge (I.O.O.F.), the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

He married Hazel Dorothy Stowe June 23, 1933. She died March 9, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Karl, Oklahoma City, and Michael, Olathe; a daughter, Patti Jensen, Brookville; a brother, Ken, Othello, Wash.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
