Blackhawks bump Colorado

October 22, 2001

— Jon Klemm's first goal with Chicago snapped a third-period tie as the Blackhawks beat his former team, the Colorado Avalanche, 4-2 Sunday night.

Alex Zhamnov, Igor Korolev and rookie Mark Bell also scored for Chicago, undefeated in four games (2-0-2). Bell's goal, with 3:56 left in the third, was his first in the NHL.

Rob Blake and Joe Sakic each had power-play goals for Colorado, which has won just two last games (2-4-0).

The Avalanche managed just 16 shots against goalie Jocelyn Thibault. Colorado's Patrick Roy made 19 saves.

Mighty Ducks 3, Canucks 1

Anaheim, Calif. Mike Leclerc scored a fluke goal, and Ruslan Salei snapped a 48-game scoring drought as Anaheim beat Vancouver. Samuel Pahlsson had two assists and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 32 saves for the Ducks, who capitalized on a couple of bad plays by Vancouver defenseman Brent Sopel in a 2:09 span of the second period to score their second and third goals.
