An early morning fire caused about $45,000 in damage to an apartment house in the Oread neighborhood, just west of Kansas University.
No one was injured in the blaze, which broke out in the upper floor of a three-level home that had been converted into apartments at 414 W. 14th. Firefighters responded about 3:19 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials from Douglas County Fire & Medical were unavailable this morning for additional comment.
From the outside this morning, damage appeared to be mostly in a corner on the second floor. One apartment was gutted and those around it were damaged. There was also smoke damage to most of the home.
