Kansas University guards Jeff Boschee and Jeff Hawkins were held out of practice on Monday night.

Boschee, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior from Valley City, N.D., sprained his right ankle during drills on Sunday. X-rays taken Monday were negative and he's listed as day to day.

Hawkins, a 5-11, 175-pound guard who is slated to red-shirt this season, suffered a left knee strain Sunday after falling awkwardly during a drill at practice. He will have an MRI taken on the knee today.

The Jayhawks will continue workouts the next several weeks before opening exhibition play against the EA Sports All-Stars on Nov. 7 in Allen Fieldhouse.

Big 12 taps Houston in 2002,

Kansas City in '03 for title game

Dallas -- Reliant Park in Houston will play host to the Big 12 football championship in December 2002 and the game will return to Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium the following year.

In making the announcement Monday, Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg called the stadiums "two of the finest football playing and viewing facilities in the country."

Reliant Park will be the new home of the NFL's expansion Houston Texans, who begin playing next season. The game will be Dec. 7 at the 69,500-seat stadium.

On Dec. 6, 2003, the game will be at Arrowhead Stadium. That facility also played host to the 2000 game and attracted a Big 12-record crowd of 79,655.

"We will give strong consideration to a North Division site in 2004," Weiberg said. "That will include evaluating sites in Denver, St. Louis and Kansas City. The process for selecting sites for 2004 and beyond will begin after the 2002 game in Houston."

Previous games were held in St. Louis (1996), San Antonio (1997), St. Louis (1998), San Antonio (1999).
