Burglaries and thefts reported

A Lawrence man reported to police that someone broke into his car and stole a compact disc player, a compact disc and other personal property. The incident occurred sometime Sunday night or early Monday morning. Losses were listed at $2,427.

Condition reports

Austin McGowen, the 4-year-old boy involved in a two-vehicle accident on Old Highway 50 south of Ottawa on Friday, was in serious condition Wednesday night at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
