LINCOLN, NEB. — No. 2 Nebraska swept Kansas in three games Wednesday night in Big 12 volleyball.
The defending NCAA champions dominated KU, 30-16, 30-16, 30-17, at Nebraska Coliseum.
"No doubt about it, Nebraska is definitely worthy of its No. 2 ranking," KU coach Ray Bechard said. "We didn't play that poorly. It's just that Nebraska is a very fine volleyball team. We will put this match behind us and get ready for North Carolina and N.C. State this weekend."
Nebraska improved to 14-1 overall and remained unbeaten in seven league matches. KU fell to 11-6, 2-6.
Sophomore outside hitter Sara Rome led Kansas with nine kills, while setter Molly Lamere had six digs.
Sophomore Abbie Jacobson, who averages 2.76 kills a game, did not play after injuring her shoulder Saturday against Texas Tech. She may return to action this weekend.
The Jayhawks play North Carolina on Friday night at Chapel Hill, N.C., before the Tar Heels' late night basketball practice.
