Joe A. Saenz

— Services for Joe A. Saenz, 80, Great Bend, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Mr. Saenz died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001 at his home.

He was born April 10, 1921, in Las Cruces, N.M., the son of Rito and Elena (Arias) Saenz.

Mr. Saenz served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a carpenter for C.V. Cale Construction in Great Bend. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 180 and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

He married Kathryn Godinez Sept. 8, 1947, in Lamar, Colo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include four sons, Rito, Topeka, Michael, Great Bend, Christopher, Great Bend, and Manuel Palacio, Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Julia L. Saenz-Self, Lawrence, Ramona Webb, Wichita, and Monica S. Ortega, LaCross; a sister, Olivia Godinez, Phoenix; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Edward, died earlier.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Christians Funeral Home, Great Bend, . A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
