Drug raids net 2 arrests in Jefferson County
Two men were arrested Friday on suspicion of drug activity when Jefferson County Sheriff's officers searched two Lakeside Village residences.
Charges are pending against a 42-year-old man and a 26-year-old man. They were in a house in the 9800 block of Glenwood Drive when officers raided it about 7 a.m. Friday, Undersheriff Jeff Herrig said.
A Kansas Highway Patrol special tactics unit also participated in the raid.
Both suspects could face charges for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, Herrig said. The 42-year-old remained in the Jefferson County Jail on $52,500 bond and the 26-year-old on $10,000 bond.
About 5 p.m. Friday sheriff's officers searched a mobile home in the 10000 block of Bittersweet Drive. They found the remnants of a methamphetamine lab, Herrig said. No one was at the mobile home, but officers are looking for a suspect.
Two suspects arrested after beating incident
A Shawnee man was injured Saturday night after he was kicked and beaten by two assailants, Lawrence Police said.
Two men were arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail after officers were called about 8:20 p.m. to the 100 block of East Seventh Street, police said. Witnesses to the incident pointed out the suspects to officers.
The victim, 38, was transported by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
No information was available Monday on possible charges against the suspects.
