May 26, 2001

— Iowa State basketball coach Larry Eustachy's new contract, which could bring his compensation to $1.55 million a year, included a $120,000 signing bonus.

Eustachy, who has led Iowa State to 57-11 record over the past two years, received a $120,000 bonus for signing a 10-year, $11 million contract after last season. It was the second time in two years his contract was renegotiated.

Details of the new contract, reported by the Ames Tribune this week, show Eustachy will continue to receive $25,000 for qualifying for the NCAA Tournament and an additional $25,000 for each NCAA victory.

His contract pays him $220,000 in base salary and $880,000 in outside income.

Cyclone football coach Dan McCarney's new four-year deal, signed in March, has an incentive package that could net him an additional $133,000 and push his income to $733,000. McCarney receives $200,000 in base salary and $400,000 in outside income.
