to appear on 'Montel'

Alyssa Buecker, a teen-age filmmaker from Lawrence, will be the guest star on the "Montel Williams Show" today. The show will air at 3 p.m. on Sunflower Cablevision's channel 4 and will be repeated at 9 a.m. June 1 on that channel.

Williams' producers came across Alyssa's Web site,, in January and called to invite Alyssa on the program. Alyssa and her parents, Nancy Pistorius and Brad Buecker, were flown in late January to New York City to tape the show. Clips from her HBO-commissioned movie, "Carrot Wars," which stars her guinea pigs, will be shown on "Montel."

Alyssa began making movies when she was 11. She has won several awards at film festivals. She has been commissioned to make guinea pig movies for Nickelodeon, and three of her previous guinea pig movies have been appearing regularly on the HBO Family Channel. In March, HBO commissioned her to make a series of guinea pig shorts, which will air next season on the HBO Family Channel.
