Group plans summer prayer

Martha and Mary's Way plans a schedule of prayer opportunities this summer.

During June, the group will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for prayer. Scripture prayer will be at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. Thursdays. Centering prayer will be at 7 p.m. June 4 and 18. All prayer meetings are at 107 E. 19th St.

The group will also have a walkabout retreat from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 in a rural setting.

Jewish center honors high school seniors

The Lawrence Jewish Community Center, 917 Highland Drive, will honor graduating high school seniors at 7:45 p.m. Friday, May 25. Rabbi Beiner will join the community for these services.

Veritas plans graduation, concert

Veritas Christian School will hold its ninth-grade graduation and spring concert at 7 tonight at Free Methodist Church, 3001 Lawrence Ave. A reception will follow.

St. John's to honor high school seniors

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky., will recognize high school seniors at the 8:30 a.m. liturgy May 27. The pastoral council will host a breakfast for graduates and their families after the liturgy. Contact the parish office by Sunday at 843-0109 to make reservations for the breakfast.

The Fiesta Committee will have a kickoff breakfast after all morning masses Sunday to begin preparations for the June event.

The 8:30 a.m. Sunday liturgy will be signed by an American Sign Language interpreter.

Church plays host to health screenings

Lifeline Screening will offer health tests Friday, June 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H.

The organization will offer three vascular tests a carotid artery screening, abdominal aortic aneurysm tests and an ankle brachial index test plus osteoporosis screenings for women.

Taize worship planned at St. John's

A Taize worship service will be held at 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 25, in the sanctuary at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky.

The hour of scripture, song and silence is sponsored by St. John's and Plymouth Congregational Church.

Lawrence Heights continues series

The Rev. James Taylor will continue his 10-part series about Bible prophecy Sunday at Lawrence Heights Christian Church, 2321 Peterson Road.

This week's topic will be "The Signs of the Times: Nature, Society and Spiritual Signs." For more information, call 843-1729.

Calvary women to attend conference

Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th Terrace, will participate in the Women of Faith Conference July 27-28 in St. Louis. Sunday is the registration deadline.

Church offers services for hearing-impaired

Sign language interpreting services are available for hearing-impaired people who are interested in becoming Catholic or want more information about the Catholic Church.

The sessions will be held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays this summer at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th St. In September the sessions will be weekly.

Jubilee Cafe seeks volunteers

The Jubilee Cafe, a breakfast program for homeless and needy people, is seeking volunteers for the summer months.

The cafe operates from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Volunteers will serve guests in a restaurant-style setting at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt.

Trinity offers information session

Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will offer a session for those interested in the church at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Peter Oesterlin and other church leaders will present the session.

The parents group will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the ECA room. The church will honor education program volunteers during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.
