Farm accident kills 6-year-old

A weekend farm accident in Meade County was fatal to a 6-year-old boy.

An Abilene man was sentenced Monday in Dickinson County District Court to 19 months in prison for bilking Kansas customers out of about $1.3 million.

Tassler operated as a broker for American Express Financial Advisors Inc. in Salina when he began advising his clients to invest in a fictitious charitable trust called "Educational Institutional Cooperative," said Kansas Securities Commissioner David Brant.

The commissioner's office said Tassler had placed the investors' money in his personal bank account.
