Author to speak at Veritas convocation
Veritas Christian School will have its fourth annual "Making the Difference" spring convocation Thursday at First Baptist Church, 1330 Kasold Drive.
Tedd Tripp, author of "Shepherding a Child's Heart," will be guest speaker for the dessert benefit.
Tripp's work explores principles of biblical child-rearing. His book addresses influences that shape a child's attitude, the pursuit of a child's "Godward orientation" and the evaluation of parental goals and methods.

St. Margaret's offers final new member class
St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St., will have the final part in a series of New Members Classes on Sunday. The class, "Discovering your Spiritual Gifts," will follow the 10:30 a.m. service.
The Lenten series "Journey to Easter" will continue at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Supper and child care are provided.
The junior and senior high school students will meet after the 5 p.m. Sunday contemporary service to discuss Diocesan summer camps, and Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday services.

New group offers support for dads
Dad's Time, a support group for fathers, will have its first meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt.
The group will discuss healthy relationships, effective communication, traditions, culture, identity and child development.

Registration open for Catholic camp
The Midwest Catholic Youth Chorale offers a camp to help high school students become more successful and prayerful in their leadership of liturgical music.
The July 22-28 camp is open to high school students in Kansas and Missouri who are Catholic.

First Presbyterian honors associate pastor
First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, 2415 Clinton Parkway, will celebrate the ministry of the Rev. Nancy Thellman during fellowship time at 10:20 a.m. Sunday.
Thellman has been the congregation's interim associate pastor for four and a half years. She will preach at the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services.
Unity offers midweek service
Unity Church of Lawrence, 416 Lincoln St., will turn "Godward" in community at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The time includes song, meditation, prayer and a brief lesson.

Missionaries to speak at Mustard Seed
Shawn Bullock will be guest speaker at the 11th annual Missions Conference at 10 a.m. Sunday at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive.
Bullock and his wife, Annie, are missionaries to Romania. Other returning missionaries will speak throughout the afternoon, followed by an authentic Eastern European meal at 5 p.m. and more sharing from the Bullocks at 6:30 p.m.

A Christian education conference is planned next weekend at Ninth Street Baptist Church, 847 Ohio.
The featured speaker, Okechukwu Ogbonnaya, will discuss Christian spirituality and growth.

Heartland broadcasts musical event
Heartland Community Church, 619 Vt., will broadcast a musical event featuring Max Lucado from
4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Lucado's presentation will be based on his book, "He Chose the Nails." He will be joined by musicians Kim Hill, Natalie Grant, Wes King and Nicole Mullen. The two-hour program is designed to stimulate spiritual reflection before Easter.

Resurrection Run marks biblical journey
The Second Annual Resurrection Run will be April 7, beginning at Sunflower School, 2621 Inverness Drive. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.
The 5K run/walk commemorates the journey that Mary, Peter and John made to and from the empty tomb of Jesus on Resurrection Day.
Entry forms are available at churches, fitness/community centers, sports stores and Christian Book and Gift.
