Marbury has surgery on tendon in left pinkie
East Rutherford, N.J. New Jersey Nets guard Stephon Marbury had surgery Thursday to repair a ruptured tendon in his left pinkie.
Dr. Charles Melone Jr., a New York City hand specialist, said the surgery went as planned and the finger will be immobilized for six weeks.
Marbury averaged 23.9 points and 7.6 assists in 67 games this season. He scored a career-high 50 points against the Lakers on Feb. 13.
The Nets also signed guard Eddie Gill to a 10-day contract Thursday. Gill will replace the injured Kenyon Martin.
Bulls activate Voskuhl; Tarlac on injured list
Chicago The Chicago Bulls activated rookie center Jake Voskuhl before Thursday night's game against the Boston Celtics.
Center Dragan Tarlac replaced Voskuhl on the injured list. Tarlac has a sprained left ankle.
Voskuhl has been hobbled by tendinitis in his left foot for much of the season and has played in only six games. His best was a six-point, six-rebound performance against Minnesota on Dec. 5.
Tarlac has appeared in 43 games and has averaged 2.4 points and 2.8 rebounds.
