Douglas County commissioners at tonight's meeting will consider a proposed solution to parking problems near the county courthouse.

Allen Press Inc., 810 E. 10th St., which is across the street from the courthouse at 11th and Massachusetts streets, has agreed to rent 33 parking spaces at $200 each for use by county employees. In the proposed agreement, the company will rent the spaces until tenants need the parking.

Almost 50 parking stalls were lost with the construction taking place at the Lawrence-Douglas County Judicial & Law Enforcement Center.

The meeting starts at 6:35 p.m. at the county courthouse, 1100 Mass. Commissioners also will:

Proclaim April 2 to 8 as Public Health Week.

Reconsider a request to rezone about 5 acres from agricultural to a light industrial district for Charles Mestagh, owner of McLouth Excavating. The property is located just east of Midland Junction off U.S. Highway 59.
