Tampa, Fla. The New Jersey Devils made it look too easy.
Alexander Mogilny had two goals and Bobby Holik added a goal and three assists as the Devils took over the Eastern Conference lead with a 7-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night.
The Devils, who hold a one-point advantage over Ottawa in the race for the conference's top spot, won for the 14th time in 15 games. New Jersey, which had a franchise-record 13-game winning streak end in a 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday, set a team record with its seventh consecutive road win.
"I think the team responded really well," Devils coach Larry Robinson said. "Everybody was focused. And the nice thing about it is we kept our focus right to the end. I thought tonight was a great team effort."
Mogilny, who has four goals and nine points in four games against Tampa Bay this season, put the Devils up 4-1 with consecutive second-period goals. He scored on a rebound at 11:17, and then redirected Scott Niedermayer's pass while skating down the slot during a power play at 16.49.

Calgary, Alberta Fred Brathwaite made 19 saves for his franchise record-tying fifth shutout of the season as Calgary beat Columbus. Jarome Iginla, Chris Clark and Valeri Bure scored for Calgary, which won consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 9-10.
Penguins 4, Sabres 1
Pittsburgh Hans Jonsson and Robert Lang scored 12 seconds apart in the opening minute against Buffalo backup goaltender Martin Biron. Kevin Stevens scored his first goal in nine games and Jaromir Jagr got his first in five as the Penguins, coming off a 4-2 victory Sunday that ended New Jersey's 13-game winning streak, won consecutive games for the first time since March 8-10.
Sharks 3, Kings 2, OT
San Jose, Calif. Mike Ricci scored 1:53 into overtime to lead San Jose over Los Angeles. It was Ricci's second goal of the game and increased San Jose's hold on seventh place in the Western Conference.
