New York Saturday's NCAA Tournament regional finals drew TV ratings 6 percent higher than in 2000.
CBS Sports' telecasts averaged a 6.8 preliminary national rating for the first two round of eight games, compared to 6.4 last year. Each rating point represents about 1 million TV homes.
The tourney as a whole was averaging a 5.7, down 3 percent from 2000, when the event finished with its lowest overall rating since the network started airing it in 1982.
